If I am failing a class, how do I drop it or change to audit?

In order to avoid a failing grade on their transcript, students must drop a class or change to audit by the scheduled drop date of that semester, approximately a week after progress reports are received or the 11th week of the semester.
  • The deadline date is included in the daily announcements.
  • Students may only drop to study hall for zero credit. The student must meet with his/her counselor before receiving a drop slip.
  • If the student discusses the drop with teacher and parents and obtains signatures from them, the class will be removed from the studentís schedule, but only if the form is returned to the counselor.

How do I request a class change?

Most WCSD high schools do not allow changes, but as a courtesy, the Reno counselors will hold a few ďChange DaysĒ the week before school starts in August.
  • This is the only time students are allowed to attempt to make changes of classes.
  • Because the master schedule was built on student requests made in the spring, classes may be full and we may not be able to accommodate a change.
  • If students have class issues during the year that arenít being resolved with the teacher, parents can request a conference by emailing the teacher or counselor, but it is our policy to not change teachers without an attempt to rectify an issue first.
